My core values provide insight into the means by which I engage the world.
Leadership
I was my high school senior class Vice President, I was the Seattle University Commuter Student Representative during the 2006-2007 school year, and I was also the Alpha Phi Omega Community Service Fraternity Vice President of Membership during that same year. However, leadership is not just an elected role that one gains through campaigning or popularity. Leadership is harnessed in every person, and with this knowledge one is able to empower everyone around them, thus creating an environment where everybody leads. I believe this is the key to being a great leader.
Free-Unencumbered
I have no obligations. No children, no significant other, and nothing to tie me down or distract me from my profession. I am free to go anywhere and do anything. This allows me to dedicate my life to a long-lasting career.
Service
Not only is service helpful to people on the receiving end, but it is helpful to those who are performing the service as well. I have spent hundreds of hours participating in community service events including food drives, litter pick-ups, flood damage clean-up, soup kitchens, and I have also purchased Christmas gifts for less-fortunate children
Resiliency
Many people enjoy being at the top, and can’t handle being at the bottom. Instead of adopting a negative attitude or losing control of one’s self when at a low point in life, I have been fortunate enough to keep my head up and enjoy the fact that better times are ahead. I have found my self in the most stressful situations with others, and I am proud to say that I am always able to remain calm and pull through.
Humility
Ahh, the act of being humble. This is very important to me because my physical presence is often intimidating for people around me. My confidence has been mistaken for arrogance in the past. Because of this, I have been learned how to present my self in a humble way, while still letting my peers know that I mean business.
Equality
I understand that no person is worth more or less than the next person. What is important is that we are all different, and have many things to learn from one another. Mutual respect, kindness, and helpfulness are all bi-products of anyone who practices this.
