How to send MMS (picture) messages on your iPhone
As you may know, iPhones are not able to send or receive MMS messages (picture messages). Well, what you know is wrong! Below I will tell you what you need to do in order to send picture messages on your iPhone. It is important to note that this method is not a sneak-around method that uses your e-mail. This is totally legit.
Pros: You can send and receive picture messages.
Cons: You will no longer have visual voice mail. I am working on a way to fix this.
Hardware you will need:
-A computer
-An iPhone
-A cell phone other than an iPhone that will work on the ATT network
-An iPhone USB cable to connect your iPhone to your computer
This is how you do it!
If your iPhone is already jailbroken skip to step 2.
Step 1
Jailbreak your iPhone. I’ve jailbroken over 30 iPhones for people. It literally takes 3 minutes to do. I am not going to tell you how to do this. Just click here and follow the steps. If you’re really having trouble figuring this out you can send me an e-mail and I will help you.
Step 2
Take your sim card out of your iPhone and put it in your alternate phone. Turn it on and call ATT (611). Speak to tech support. Tell them you no longer use your iPhone and you want to switch your data package to the normal data package (non-iPhone). They will go through some steps and eventually they will switch it. Make sure you get the unlimited data package! Everything will cost the same amount, but the normal (non-iPhone) data package will allow MMS messages.
Step 3
Put your sim card back into your iPhone
Step 4
Open up Cydia. If this is your first time opening Cydia you will need to configure a few things and install some updates. Cydia is very similar to the App Store. After you open it, select the search tab and search for SwirlyMMS. Install Swirly MMS.
Step 5
Open up SwirlyMMS on your iPhone and choose the 8 day demo license. Options for the settings will come up. I chose this one and it worked
MMSC: mmsc.cingular.com
Proxy: wireless.cingular.com
APN: wap.cingular
Username: WAP@CINGULARGPRS.COM
Password: CINULAR1
Note: These settings work for me. If they do not work for you please try one of the other options. I believe this option was the third one down on the list.
After this you will be able to send and receive MMS messages.
